PhDs
The PhD is a post-degree training period, lasting three years, directed to the development of a scientific research work, supervised by a teacher, that allows obtaining the academic qualification of PhD.
The aim consists in giving the student enrolled high level competences and qualification
suitable for research and professionalism activities requiring a higher scientific preparation at public and private bodies.
Thanks to the new regulations the PhD has become, in fact, a plan aiming at the creation of professional figures highly qualified to be inserted in the firms in order to promote the research , development and innovation activities. So, the PhD isn’ t only a course to enter the academic career anymore.
The PhD characterizes itself as a “product” meeting the needs of the territorial firms that need technological innovations, but that can’t afford of investing in internal research structures.
As a matter of fact, the firm interested in benefiting from the Doctor ’s services it can finance a three year scholarship for a post as a PhD in the research sector which it is interested in.
The winner of the scholarship carries out his research activity on a specific theme showed by the financing firm after arranging the research theme and program with the teachers. Therefore, these scholarships are called “scholarships tied up by the theme”.
Thanks to the Doctor, the firm could be in touch with some of the biggest experts of the specific technological sector and benefit from their knowledge in order to be constantly updating on the most recent innovations on the process and the product and on the development of the reference markets.
Everyone in possession of the qualification required by the regulations in force can enter, without age and citizenship limits:
. degree ( obtained according to the education system foreseeing the reform referred to M. D. n.509/99 ).
. specialistic degree ( according to M. D. 509/ 1999 ).
. analogous academic qualification obtained abroad, preventively recognized valid by academic authorities also within inter-university cooperation and mobility agreements.
The entrance to PhD course occurs through competitive examinations.
